Yes, a true story.
Hi, I'm Emma-Kate, here's a little bit of my story.
Back in 2003, I was going nowhere fast. Seriously. I was drifting. Then Pilates found me - and I actually feel emotional writing this because it changed absolutely everything.
Thank goodness it did, because it was the life course correction I desperately needed.
With natural teacher vibes and a background in performing arts, I embraced the role I was meant to play—a Pilates teacher and educator who connects with heart.
I started teaching during what I call the "golden era" of Pilates - before social media, before comparison culture took over. Back then, we learned from mentors who held space for our growth, who gave constructive criticism, which helped us on the journey. We built authentic connections, supported each other and focused on teaching rather than complicated sequences.
But somewhere along the way, that changed. Teaching became about flawless feeds and complex choreography instead of genuine connection. I watched incredible teachers - teachers with so much to offer - doubt themselves, burn out, or worse, leave the profession entirely.
Let's rewind to 2003/2004... a time when Pilates was a hidden gem, and most people even struggled to pronounce it.
It was a different era for teaching:

❌ No endless comparisons
Back then, teaching was about hands-on experiences and real connections, allowing you to discover your unique voice without distractions or comparison.
My career in the health and fitness industry is something I'm beyond grateful for.
It's a career that has been filled with deep connections with incredible people and a wholesome life. It truly is the BEST job in the world!
I felt very supported and nutured at the start of my teaching journey, and I see the lack of this in the industry, which I find really disheartening. That's the whole reason behind MUSE. I don't think it should be a time of second guessing yourself and wondering if your doing it right.
Pilates teaching gave me the safest space I'd every felt in my life, I needed that more than anything and it is my personal mission to create a safe space for ALL Pilates teachers.
